Jackson tackled Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks as Bills lineback Tremaine Edmunds came flying in.
Unfortunately Edmunds missed his mark and slammed into the head of his own teammate, snapping back Jackson’s head and neck in violent scenes.
The force of the shot left Jackson motionless on the turf as trainers rushed to his side as a silence fell around the stadium.
For several minutes the Bills star was surrounded by medical staff as at first the cart emerged from the tunnel before an ambulance appeared.
The ambulance was brought onto the field as Jackson was slowly loaded on and taken away as fans held their breath.
The Bills provided an update on the defensive star shortly after the ambulance left the stadium.
“CB Dane Jackson has been taken to ECMC for evaluation of a neck injury. He will be getting a CT scan and an x-ray. Jackson has full movement in extremities,” a statement read.
The Bills went into the halftime break holding the 17-7 lead against the Titans, but all fans watching on cared about was Jackson.
“Man I’m praying for Dane Jackson … that’s terrible,” one fan wrote.
Another added: “Hoping for the best for Dane Jackson. So sad seeing an injury like that.”
News reporter Alyssa Rae wrote: “The Dane Jackson injury is hard to watch. Praying he is okay.”
Sports anchor Spencer Davidson wrote: “Absolutely deafening silence in Orchard Park. Such a scary scene. Thoughts with Dane Jackson, and hope for a speedy recovery.”
