Boyle, the Knights’ captain, led from the top as Newcastle rose from last to first and won the club’s first Premier League in his second season in the competition.

Boyle ran 271 meters from 30 runs and made 23 tackles as a result.

In the second NRLW competition of the season – the 2021 season was played in early 2022 due to the Covid pandemic – the Knights won 32-12, blasting the goal line with three tries in the final seven minutes in a close affair.

When co-captain Boyle spoke on stage after the result, he was beaming.

“I’m the co-captain alongside Hannah Southwell this year and I want to say hello to Hannah, if it wasn’t for her, we wouldn’t be here,” Boyle said.

“Unfortunately, Han sustained an ACL injury in round one, which is absolutely devastating, but our team would be nothing without her.”

After her thank you, Boyle paid tribute to the families before the camera found Elliott

The heartbreaking scenes continued as Elliott, wearing Boyle’s Premiership ring and a sweater with her name on it, carried her on his shoulders as the Knights celebrated their big win.

“Thank you to our family and friends for traveling downstairs. We can hear you, we can see you and we love you so much,” Boyle said.

It was incredible scenes for 27-year-old Elliott, who has played 125 games in the NRL to support partner Boyle.

Elliott will join Boyle at Newcastle next season on a three-year, $1.4 million deal after spending a year with the Canberra Raiders after being forced out by the Canterbury Bulldogs.

The pair caused a stir when they first met after the pair were spotted by security guards in a restaurant bathroom.

Boyle claimed it was “an innocent kiss,” but Elliott was reportedly escorted out of the venue shirtless.

He was fined $10,000 by the league for discrediting the game and eventually parted ways with the Bulldogs by agreeing to end his contract at what was reportedly a two-year, $1 million contract to cancel on the table.

However, soon after the scandal, the two revealed that they were in a committed relationship and have become one of the sport’s power couples.

Boyle poked fun at the situation with an Instagram post, writing: “Lost a milli. won for Millie.”

Boyle had spent three years with the Broncos and won the NRLW Dally M Player of the Season earlier this year, while the Knights win is her fourth title.
