Watch | Bloemfontein Celtic fans give MaMkhize a boot

It’s really hard to buy football fans! On Sunday September 25th, businesswoman Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize and her football team Royal AM were in Bloemfontein, Free State for the Macufe Cup 2022.

This came after MaMkhize bought Bloemfontein Celtic and renamed it Royal AM, the team joined the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

The club’s new owner arrived in her luxury vehicle as Bloemfontein Celtic fans flocked to the Free State Stadium. Fans didn’t hold back to express their displeasure with her.

In a video currently circulating on social media, Bloemfontein Celtic fans can be seen surrounding MaMkhize’s luxury car as it headed to the Free State Stadium for the Macufe Cup on September 25.

@Phutivich-vin, the TikTok user who posted the video, said fans were chasing MaMkhize away. A fan is heard telling the Durban businesswoman to “leave”.

Since then, the TikTok video has been viewed over 170,000 times.

Remember, Bloemfontein Celtics fans were devastated in August 2021 when the club was sold to MaMkhize and renamed Royal AM. PSL chairman Irvin Khoza told KickOff that while they want to preserve the history of the football club, sustainability is an issue.
