We all miss the ParkRun experience at Clarens, none more than the CVC who built all these beautiful trails and routes to enjoy and explore. In fact, they missed it so much that they decided to host the CVC Fun Run on the same track! At your own pace, whether you’re an Olympic sprinter or a laid-back dog walker, take a morning stroll before stopping at Bibliophile for Clarens Country Market.
The first was last Saturday October 31st so the CVC was full of creatures and everyone was having a great time.
See you there every Saturday at 8pm!
The Clarens Village Conservancy (CVC) was established in May 2004. It is made up of a group of individuals, homeowners and businesses who come together because they are concerned about, and want to improve and monitor the state of their environment. The CVC is registered with the Department of Environmental Affairs and as a non-profit organization with the Department of Social Development.
Some of Clarens Village Conservancy’s activities include: Trail cutting and maintenance; environmental education in local schools, churches and youth groups; Garbage disposal from the big yellow bins and garbage collection in the city; Collection of recyclables from businesses; Separation of recyclables at the recycling depot; removing snares and reporting other signs of poaching in the reserve; Stopping and reporting illegal logging and harvesting of native plants in the reserve and replanting of native plants.
We employ 3 full-time rangers who are on site daily and perform tasks such as removing snares, protecting against illegal captivity, conducting environmental education in the schools and promoting recycling, among other duties. They have also been extensively trained in CPR and first aid. The CVC is always looking for new members and volunteers.
