Running with the Blues – The Australian Jewish News

As footy season comes to a close, footy fans of all ages gear up for the grand finale. One of those fans is David Akoka, a 2nd grade student at Leibler Yavneh College, who ran onto the MCG with Carlton Football Club on Aug. 21 in front of a crowd of 90,000, according to Every Moment.

This opportunity arose when David’s father, Danny, entered a Carlton Football Club competition.

The competition consisted of a junior fan running through the banner with the Carlton players for the round 23 match.

Danny Akoka explained that they were very excited when they got the call from Carlton telling them that David had won the competition as well as four tickets to the game.

Despite the outcome of the game, Danny said: “It was a great experience to be on the MCG surface for such a big event. David was awesome and loving every moment, adding, “The hype lived up to expectations.”

Eight-year-old David said: “I was excited to run onto the MCG.”
